What are the purchase limits for cannabis in New Jersey?

New Jersey keeps things regulated for everyone’s safety. Here’s the breakdown: Adult Use Customers (New Jersey Residents 21+): 28 grams (1 oz) of cannabis flower 4 grams of concentrates 1000mg of THC edibles Note: Recreational customers can mix and match products, but the total cannot exceed the 1-ounce limit. Medical Patients: Registered medical patients can purchase up to 3 ounces of medical cannabis every 30 days.

Can non-residents purchase cannabis in New Jersey?

Yes, non-residents aged 21 and over can purchase cannabis from licensed retailers, provided they present valid government-issued identification.

How much cannabis can I legally possess in New Jersey?

Adults aged 21 and over can possess up to 6 ounces (170 grams) of cannabis or its equivalent in other forms, such as edibles or concentrates.

How is cannabis taxed in New Jersey?

Cannabis in New Jersey is taxed at the retail level for adult-use (recreational) purchases, while medical marijuana is largely tax-exempt. Medical Marijuana: Registered medical marijuana patients do not pay state sales tax at checkout. Medical cannabis purchases are exempt from sales tax. Adult-Use (Recreational): Adult-use cannabis is subject to the standard state sales tax of 6.625% at retail. In addition, New Jersey allows a local cannabis transfer tax of up to 2%, which municipalities may apply. This can increase the total tax at checkout depending on the location. There is also a state Social Equity Excise Fee applied to cultivators, which is built into product pricing and not listed as a separate retail tax.
